Planning & Environmental

Our Planning & Environmental Group is recognised as a leading adviser on planning, environmental, compulsory purchase, heritage and highways issues.

The Group acts for owners, developers and investors in all of the main sectors: office, industrial, residential, retail, leisure and urban regeneration.

Members of the Group have worked on some of the country's most high profile and complex planning and urban regeneration projects. They have a successful track record in prosecuting and defending Judicial Reviews and defending clients from proceedings in the magistrates' courts.

Our Planning lawyers offer a full service which recognises the importance of good communication, close working relationships and the different and changing perspectives of regulators and other stakeholders.

Our Environmental lawyers handle a wide range of environmental law issues including the identification and management of contaminated land, nuisance issues and managing environmental liabilities in the context of corporate and financing transactions.

We aim to find innovative and proactive solutions to unlock property value in development and investment situations, and to preserve value in compulsory purchase situations. We seek to provide practical, commercial and well rounded advice.

Members of the Group are appointed to the Law Society's Specialist Planning Panel and are Legal Associates of the Royal Town Planning Institute.

Group Head Richard Keczkes sits on the Law Society's Planning and Environmental Law Committee, the City of London Law Society's Planning and Environmental Law Committee and the RTPI's Development Control Panel.
