Competition & Regulatory Investigations

Competition authorities such as the European Commission have significant powers to investigate any practices which they consider to be potentially anti-competitive. Such investigations can lead to significant fines and businesses must be aware of the risks arising from breaching competition rules - and the opportunities for protecting them against anti-competitive action by others.

Olswang deals with competition and regulatory complaints to the European Commission and national competition and regulatory authorities, including:

  • presenting a complaint to the relevant authorities – and defending complaints against our client’s business;
  • advice on commercial strategy throughout a competition authority investigation;
  • advice on the likelihood of success and tactical and policy considerations; and
  • liaising and negotiating with the relevant authorities.
