Judicial Review & Public Law
In an increasingly regulated world, commercial activities are being exposed to even greater scrutiny, control and intervention by regulators and other state bodies.
Many industries, such as media, telecommunications and utilities, are subject to a specific statutory regulatory regime. But other businesses may find their commercial activities exposed to scrutiny and intervention by regulators and other state bodies. Commercial organisations need not consider themselves subservient to unrestrained and unreasonable decision making from state entities. The courts have developed a body of law which allows public decision-making to be challenged. We regularly act for claimants, defendants and third parties in judicial review proceedings and advise on public law duties and remedies. We also advise on all kinds of administrative and public matters including the regulation of industries such as media, telecommunications, life sciences, pensions, financial services, gambling, utilities and education.
